History in the making
Actually, to tell the truth, I can't really remember his face anymore. (:
Did anyone watch the semi-final match between Nadal and Verdasco last night?!?!
OMG it was the most amazing+spectacular match in this whole tournament! :D
They broke the record for being the longest ever match in tournament history, at a total of 5 hours 14 minutes.
(I'll probably faint after playing barely an hour)
Even Nadal started losing his cool by the 5th set and he's like World No. 1 and World No. 1s don't ever lose their cool because that's how he got to be World No. 1 in the first place.
Er, yeah.
YAY I can't wait for tomorrow's final. :DDDD
I hope Nadal wins and wipe that annoying smug smile on Federer's face and show that he is truly the best player in the world!
Heatwave is over, thank god.
(YAY I survived the hottest consecutive three days ever in Victoria's history!)
It felt grrrreat when I stepped out of my house last night and it was so cool that I almost cried out in relief.
The worst feeling ever is when you step out into the night air and get hit with a temperature more suitable for daytime.
Heh the weather forecast says there might even be a thunderstorm today.
I think I will go out and dance in the rain if that happens.
I pity the people in Adelaide though, 40 degrees for another week.
Ohmygod school is opening TWO DAYS FROM NOW.
Please excuse me while I go and have a panic attack.

Happy times
A day in heatwave world
1. Probably no one in the whole of Melbourne, if not Victoria, managed to get much sleep last night. Well, maybe except for the very lucky people who have cooling systems in their houses, but I didn't have one. :(
2. The heat even during the night was suffocating.
I just couldn't stand to be staying still at all!
I was already feeling extremely/very/ultra/super sleepy but the HEAT prevented me (and everyone else) from having a nice night of sleep.
3. My dad couldn't take it, and went to sleep outside the house. HAHA.
Although it was still warm outside, at least there was a mild breeze which made it quite bearable.
Not to mention, the view of the night sky dotted with stars was very pretty.
4. Everything, like seriously, EVERY SINGLE SURFACE I touch is like, HOT. The floor, the carpet, the chair, the window, the WALLS, the bed, the clothes, everything.
It gets abit annoying after a while.
5. A bottle of sunblock lotion melted in my dad's car, and became boiling hot sunblock juice.
Not a very good combination.
6. Libraries are the best place in the world to stay in during a heatwave.
I actually spent a nice and cooling day there today, blissfully unaware of the blistering heat outside, only to come home at about 5 to find that my house was in full blown sauna state. There was no lights, no fans, nothing!
Power shortage was destroying my life.
7. I got to see my relatively-hot-and-shirtless neighbour.
After sitting there in my sauna like an idiot for about an hour, I decided to walk over to my neighbour's house to ask if we were the only house to have a shortage for so long. So he came and opened the door shirtless (LOL) and he was friendly x10000 okay!
I happy.
He was very helpful, and even came over in a while and asked if our power was back and if we needed any help.
I love my neighbour. :D
8. Just as I was having fun walking around the house using torchlights, and lighting candles, falling asleep in the absolute darkness, the magical whirr of the computers+refrigerators+washing machine+microwave woke us all up from our dying state of lethargy.
For some reason, turning on the lights made the house sort of warmer.
In the end, the power cut lasted for almost 7 hours. ):
I am actually feeling really icky now, bu I guess after all these is over, I can say that I managed to survive the worst full week of heat in a century!
This is what I call endurance my friends.
WE HAVE WILLPOWER! WE HAVE ENDURANCE! WE ARE STRONG! :DDDD

Heatwave of the century
It is like bloody 33degrees IN MY HOUSE can you just imagine the heat outside?
Well, if you can't, I can.
Because........ sane as I always am, and since sane people do sane things, I embraced the heat and went for a leisurely shopping trip in the city today.
Turns out that my dad's friend from Singapore is here for a week on holiday (LOL what bad timing. They come for a week of holiday and that week just happened to be the hottest week in 100 years) and her daughter wanted to shop.
So my mum happily volunteered me to accompany her and bring her to the nicest sights of Melbourne City.
Translation: I was sentenced to a day of burning/roasting/melting/baking/grilling (take your pick)
It was all the more weirder because I have hardly ever talked to the daughter before and there I was, facing the prospect of spending 2 hours alone with her.
Talk about awkward. (For general interest, I am a very nice hostess okay, of course I didn't walk in silence like some idiot beside her for shopping trip.)
So not only did I wake up super early today to send all the newspapers, (all those people better read the newspapers like 1000 times because I worked superrr hard to send them okay. I was about to collapse onto the ground and die of heatstroke while sending their stupid newspapers) I went to the city right in the middle of the day. :D
Actually, though, it wasn't THAT BAD because we were mostly in shops and the shopkeepers were sane enough to keep the cooling system on.
I think the heat is only at it's absolute-heatstroke-worst when you're standing right in the sun and not moving.
That is what I call being burned alive.
I heard there was even a power shortage somewhere because everyone was using their cooling systems and fans and the power supply couldn't take it.
HA in the end, they were left with no light, no computer, no fan - Instead, a free session of sauna.
They should be glad.
Whole day sauna session right in their house, who wouldn't want that? If they open the windows and sit in the sun, they might even get a tan.
If anyone is interested to see the article about the horrific state Victoria is in now, please read this article and feel sad for us.
Speaking of the heat, the management of the Australian Open finally found their previously-lost common sense and decided to CLOSE THE ROOF OF THE TENNIS COURT today.
EJIOASUDFJASFASD
And it happened halfway thought a match where SWilliams was losing okay.
I am very angry la, this is like SUPER UNFAIR OKAY.
I shall shut up now and fume in peace.
I have lost almost all interest in watching the rest of the matches since all the good people are out already and the only player left whom I'm relatively interested in watching is Nadal.
And it's not really exciting to see his matches because he is already so good that he's probably going to win them all anyway (unless all those KLJADSIADASD people open the roof and let him lose)
Urgh.
Speaking of tennis, I saw one of the tennis ballboys at Richmond station today!
So cool to see them in real life after staring at them everyday on tv. (:
OHMYGOD I just read the news.
It's so hot that some trains have stopped working in Melbourne and it is 45.5degrees in Adelaide!
Oh no what if all the plants and trees beside my house catch fire and burn down my house? ):
Maybe I should go and water the plants.....

Sad day
Djokovic is out of running for the Australian Open! D:
The heat was ridiculous okay.
I'm not just saying it because it caused him to retire, I mean, the organisers should be commonsensical enough to reschedule the afternoon matches or something so that the participants don't have to play in 40degrees weather.
There has been so many players who have had to retire due to the weather conditions okay.
It is very dumb la, seriously, who would be able to stand running in a court, under the burning sun for 3 hours?
AND THERE WAS A BLOODY ROOF FOR THEM TO USE OKAY.
What is the point of having a retractable roof if they are not going to use it?
And all those people who are saying that he just opted out because he didn't want to lose face and get kicked out by Roddick are crazy.
I ask them to GO AND PLAY TENNIS FOR 3 HOURS TOMORROW AND SEE HOW IT FEELS LIKE.
Let's see whether they get a heatstroke, faint and melt into a puddle of sticky goo right on the tennis court.
Yeah the weather forecast for this whole week isn't very nice, 40degrees average this whole week, with the max temp tomorrow being 41degrees.
It is so hot, that the governement has posed a very strict Total Fire Ban throughout the whole state.
I have no idea how significant it is, but I guess that would mean I can't go on my ritual nightly leaf campfire tomorrow anymore.
How sad.
Apparently, it's the hottest week in Australia since 100 (or was it 150?) years ago and it's a big deal okay!
The last time it was this hot was like now was like, in 1908!
And this heat just had to happen during the most crucial week of the Australian open and here we are full circle.
I am sad again. ):
By the way, Jelena Dokic lost the quarter finals.
And by such a tinyyyy margin.
Tennis is so depressing. (LOL so much for my enthusiasm)

New love
And well, Happy Australia Day too?
LOL I just caught a glimpse of the fireworks on tv, it's so dumb okay, they paused the whole tennis tournament just for everyone to look at the fireworks ._____.
I refrained from blogging until chem was over and done with.........
AND YES I HAVE FINISHED CHEM AT LAST. (:
Well, there were some questions I couldn't do and left perfectly blank, but hey, it's over over over over over over over over over.
Yeah you get the idea.
So, technically, I have kinda-sorta finished all my homework other than the annoying bits like, um, English oral and Shark Net and the two longest questions from spesh and.. yup that's it!
It suddenly feels like I'm taking so little subjects D:
Only two sciences, two maths and English!
OMG I think the last time I took only 5 subjects was like in Primary 4-6.
I should really reward myself for completing Chem and go and watch some tennis! :DDDDD
Yeah, as you can see, the tennis bug has caught me and I've been hooked on the Australian Open for the past few days!
I mean, I've never been one to sit in front of the tv the whole day and watch sports, but for some reason, watching tennis is very exciting!
(Oh call me dumb, but I never knew the Australian Open was such a major event. I always thought it was some random event that happened to be organised by Australia every year)
I don't know, there's just something really... captivating about how they run around the whole court and throw a tennis ball back and forth endlessly.
The men's singles are much more interesting than the women's ones because
The only indication of how physically demanding it is, is from the sweat dripping off their hair. (Which, incidentally, makes them just that much hotter)
:DDDDD
Ahhh, yeah that's all.
HAHAHA let me go and watch tennis hahahahahaha. (I'm a gone case :)

I suck.
I am so sad.
She has unknowingly made me embark on a whole new skin searching frenzy again, interupting with my Chem homework time........
Ah what the hell.
I DIDN'T DO ANY CHEM JUST NOW.
So much for inspiration. (refer to previously mentioned enthusisam/inspiration to finish chem homework)
I was delaying taking out the chem books and everything, lazed around and ended up watching a movie.
My dad just got quite a few movies from his colleague yesterday, and I was drawn to them like bees to honey.
Yeah I suck la. D:
I should be banished from this universe.
ANYWAY, so I watched The Lakehouse. And it was great!
I know. I am super outdated la, this movie came out like 2 years ago, and here I am still gushing over it but it really was niceeeeee!
Although it made me think quite a bit, the time paradoxes were quite intense.
I've wanted to watch it since Mr Samuie excitedly told us about it during English class 2 yearsgo, where he gave us all with a blow-by-blow account of the whole movie.
He likes to do things like that. Maybe that's why we all like his classes. They're interesting.
Yeah anyway, watching the movie for myself made alot more sense than listening to a retelling.
Now that the movie is over, the guilt is washing over me in huge waves (more like tsunamis).
I think I'm going to die.
New skin! (:
In the hope that I shall find a nicer skin soon, I shall bear with this! :D
I've removed the map tracker though.
Although it was interesting to see my international stalkers, I couldn't find a suitable place to put it so I just chucked it away hahahahahaha.
I'm still waiting for the inspiration to finish Chem homework to come soon, because frankly, there's really not much time left.
OMG ONE WEEK LEFT I THINK I'M GOING TO CRY FROM THE HORROR.
My three months holiday has just gone poof into the air.
Although I'm sort of excited for residential, because after about 3 weeks of freaking out (I realised that my mum had left my camp bag in Singapore and I had no other camp sized bags so I was going to have to bring plastic bags for camp) I found this smaller Converse bag somewhere in the depths of my wardrobe and I think that'll do nicely!
After all, it's just a two day camp, and how much clothes do you really need for two days?
It's not like we're going to be running around like we're at some army boot camp (Yeah, instead, we're going to be
I'm going to bring foooooood though! :D
The school is super stingy okay, we paid like 100+ for a 2 day camp and it covers barely half the meals.
We have to buy our own morning tea and lunch from the University Cafe on the second day la!
Please be reminded that University Cafes are probably overpriced x10000.
Okay I'm going to continue with chem now.
Um, inspiration has struck! :D

Cheap thrills
Seriously, it was one of the dumbest homework ever because there were three sets of seperate questions and all of them were asking practically the same things.
So I was writing the same things again and again okay, not that I'm complaining though, because now that it's over and done with, I think it was actually quite simple and not as difficult as I initially thought it was.
I wrote pages and pages and pages of words okay!
It was-still is-very satisfying to look through all the words that I had written so painstakingly. :D

I also took out the Birthday Board from 2004 today, after about a year++ of it being kept in the cupboard.
Feels strange to see all the Happy 13th Birthdays' and think that this board has been with me for... almost 5 years!

It's really cool to read all the signatures from seniors and friends and...
Omg it is making me feel so old.
I can't seem to be able to find my thumbdrive and I have a sneaking suspicion that I might have sucked it into the vaccum cleaner that day when I was cleaning my room.
Either that or I must have chucked it somewhere and forgotten about it. ):
I am very sad now.

Picnic party!

Well actually, we sort sat at this green patch of grass somewhere outside the Botanic Gardens..... but yeah anyway.
First of all, I have a story to tell. :D
So I was supposed to meet Irene at the station at 11.30 and she messaged me at about 11.45 to walk down the hill to meet her and because the picnic stuff were too heavy for her to carry up the hill by herself.
Being nice as I always am, I went ahead to give her a hand.
Just as I almost halfway down the mountain (please refer below for illustration), Rachel's mum drove past on the opposite side of the road, and saw Irene sitting there alone, so she decided to save Irene the hassle and picked her up.
A clearer picture of how I was already HALFWAY DOWN THE HILL:
(It may look like a short distance, but don't be mislead by my very artistic drawing.)
So she got a ride up to the station in the car while I WAS STILL UNKNOWINGLY MAKING MY WAY TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL.
I ended up having to walk all the way back to the station by myself okay.
We are now even for... ditching matters!
Irene can never mention the fact that I ditched her for English anymore. Lalalala.
Anyway, we reached the gardens, and finally managed to find Ken after quite a while of searching, then found a nice and shady area to sit at! :D
After the food, Richa brought Rachel away, so that we could prepare the cake, and the absolute shock we got when we opened the box was... indescribable.
HAHAHAHAHA the cake turned out quite disastrous in the end (Ken put it in his bag and it kinda got squashed and melted into this whole blob of yogurt-like liquid which only kept its shape due to the plastic ring around it.)
Irene's reaction was... rather extreme.
Actually, I'm not too sure whether she was having a laughing fit or whether she was so horrifed that she started banging her head against the floor.
It didn’t look very glamourous, but I just have to show everyone how severe her laughing fit was.
We actually had nice candles which apparently had coloured flames but they were about 100 times more difficult to light than normal candles............

......... (What kind of stupid candle doesn't even have a wick?!?!) so by the time we brought Rachel over to see her beautiful cake, the candles were about 5cm tall.
Poor Rachel had no idea that we had taken "surprise birthday cake" to a whole new level.
I can't really describe what her expression was when she opened her eyes but I guess that she must have been really puzzled as to why the cake had been reduced to a slab of cream. :D
Blowing out candles!
By then the candles were almost gone anyway. HAHAHA.
Actually though, a melted cake has its perks.
Since it wasn't really a solid cake anymore, there wasn't any hassle of cutting the cake into nice little pieces and balancing them precariously on the knife before transfering it onto the plate.
We just had to scoop the blobs of cake/cream/yogurt into plates and ta-da! Cake for everyone! :D
Incidentally, it didn't taste that bad, considering the state it was in (:

Heheheh these are the presents! Hehehehehehe.
Everyone please look at the Giant Jar of Candy that we presented Rachel with and be greeeeeeeeen with envy.
Group picture! (:

Happy (belated) Birthday Rachel!
Enjoy the candieeeeees......

Whose reality?
I literally walked into the exam hall with just a pen. Not even a pencil, an eraser, a ruler, NOTHING.
ONE PEN.
There you go, I'm crazy even when I'm asleep.
Anyway, so I walked in, and sat down without any worries, only to realise the moment I opened the paper that I had no idea how to answer the questions at all.
Horrified, I looked around me and somehow, the exam had turned into a Chemistry exam (HAHAHA stupid) and everyone around me were cheating outright with their Chemsitry textbooks, copying the answers directly while I sat there miserably, not even able to cheat because I didn't have the book with me.
I can remember distinctly feeling that I HAD TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS NO MATTER WHAT because it was going to contribute to my overall study score and if I handed in the paper in the same state as it was when I got it (ie. perfectly blank), I would fail VCE and live my life as a begger.
Well, okay, the begger part I made it up-I didn't really think that far at that moment. Dreams aren't very logical... or analytical.
But yes, I did think I was going to fail VCE.
Then my subconscious skipped to the part where I was to come out of the hall bawling like an idiot.
Although I'm not usually one to cry over exams, but hey! This is a dream!
So yes, I didn't exactly cry my lungs out in front of everyone, but I ran all over to the lockers and cried miserably there while everyone around me were happily enjoying the end of exams.
Quite sad, even when I think about it now.
Urgh I'm going mental over Year 12 panic.
I was actually really dilligently doing the bio homework yesterday, until about 4pm when the restlessness started to kick in and I decided to.......... CLEAN MY ROOM!
LALALALA.
I am immensely pleased with my room now, no more things lying around on my floor (I can at least see my floor now :D ) and it is so neat that I feel like inviting everyone over, just to look at the cleaness of my room.
HAHAHA.
Let's see how long this cleaness sustains.
Monday, January 19
School overload
Which, in turn, reminds us all that our Oral Presentation will be 5 weeks from now.
Right.
Needless to say, I am starting to feel the adrenaline rush that always comes together with the thought of school, mixed with the all too familiar feeling of dread.
Urgh.
So anyway, with school reopening soon and everything, my blog is going to start getting peppered (or maybe more like marinated. Peppered is too mild an expression) with school talk more often now.
For eg. ohmygod I have so many homework to compete I think I'm just going to melt and die right this instant, or, HAHAHA today's lesson was so funny because no one was listening to the teacher, but instead sleeping their heads off.
You get the idea.
Blogging inspirations, if you'd like to call it positively.
Anyway, so I finally went over to Link and bought the Chemistry books!
So much for the hope that they would be out of stock and I can't do the homework anymore because I don't even have the books and it's not really my fault.
Turned out they had FULL STOCK of the books .____.
It is so ridiculous okay, I only bought one textbook and one workbook and it cost a grand total of....... $95.
Really, I could have bought the whole Twilight series with that money and it would have been so much more beneficial. (Speaking of which, I did read Breaking Dawn last week and I so not regret it at all! I likeeee it la :D )
At least I can still read them 10 years down the road, while these textbooks will become quite useless once this year is over.
But regardless, these Chemistry books are like, my most favourite books for this year! (:
Not beacuse they are the only brand new books I'm using, but because they look so... educational.
Well, at least compared to last year's very pointless Chemistry book that they made us study with, it's such a relief that the Management have finally come to their senses and decided to abolish the Nelson Chemistry books for the greater good.
Now I love Heinemann Chemistry. <3
I have finished Methods!
HURRAY for the first subject that I have completely, succesfully finished! :D
Halfway through Bio now, and I really really want to finish it because that would mean that I can finally finally announce that half my homework is completed.

Regret
It's hard to think that when school reopens, I'll be staring into the smiling faces of everyone who has been on their own trips while I sit around waiting another 2 years. Even harder, when the guilt for feeling this uncontrolled envy settles in and rests with a resounding thud somewhere in me.
And with each passing day, the fear intensifies.
Wednesday, January 14
Temptation
Amazing as the books were, I am very very very guilt-ridden.
I just threw away two perfect days for completing homework, literally sitting in front of the computer all day long reading the e-books.
Really, now I'm dying for the last book, but the horror of spending yet another fruitless day glues to the computer is what's stopping me from asking Cheryl to share it with me.
(I'm horrible la, I'm making her feed my addiction)
Maybe I should just read it, and do homework in peace after finishing the entire series.
Would that work?
Sacrifices to make
I woke up at 6AM to deliver them this morning so that I could beat the sun and finish the job before it came out and evaporated away the whole of Australia.
It wouldn't be very nice if I fainted from a heatstroke halfway through.
My dad says this unbearable 40degrees kind of heat only occurs two times in the whole summer, so I guess this is the half of the torture gone.
We'll just have to wait patiently for the next to roll its way here.
I've finished New Moon! :D
This is so exciting!
Just as I finished it, I realised that Cheryl has accidentally sent me the Eclipse e-book too and it is VERY VERY tempting to just read it now.
I'm trying to decide whether I should continue panicking about homework, or just ignore them all and stay in the Twilight bubble.
Maybe I should just sleep.
I'm feeling quite sleep deprived.
Tuesday, January 13
Overpowering
It was so hot I could literally smell the heat. SERIOUSLY.
With every breath I took, I could feel the saturated heat passing through my lungs. (How melodramatic, but really. I did)
It's... not very nice.
And here we go again
Really, I was THIS close to finishing it I can practically taste the victory.
But all those evil teachers decided to leave the most horrifying treats for the last and I AM LEFT WITH THE TWO LONGEST QUESTIONS IN THE HISTORY OF MATHS.
Not only are they long, I have no idea how to do them. Go figure.
Stupid questions spoilt my chirpy and persistent mood (to finish maths) so I happily skipped off to get the New Moon e-book from Cheryl and I'm happily reading it.
TAKE THAT YOU HORRIBLY MEAN TEACHERS!
I am having fun with my New Moon.
Who cares about homework? CHEH.
I went over to Irene's house yesterday, and we baked two loaves of banana bread! :D
Using the super ripe bananas from my house. We'd bought like a hugeeee box of bananas and they were close to becoming as black as... well, rotten bananas.
ANYWAY, so while we were waiting for them to bake, we dug deep into all those youthful years of our lives.
We laughed over her wonderful sticker collection from the past, which consisted even of "PAID" stickers from Shop 'n' Save, and stickers from the dentist.
She managed to take out this ancient box of erasers that she had and we realised that this random oil thing from about 10 years ago in the box had burst and all her erasers were bathed in oil.
Not a very nice sight.
HAHAHA and she took out her autograph book from primary school, which reminded us of how autographs were like those times.
Mainly, it consisted of five parts:
1. Personal data (eg. name, class, address, phone)
2. Favourites (eg. food, colours, drinks, movies)
3. The hottest poems in town (eg. Roses are red. Violets are blue. I have a friend. That friend is you)
4. A friends list, where you list out who are your best friends and who... aren't. We normally go by the ranking system such as Gold, Silver and Bronze.
5. A not-so-personal message to the owner of the book (which everyone would be able to read and
OMG SUPERRRR CHEESY OKAY. I can't believe we all did that.
Youthful days, youthful days.
Today is one of the hottest days since summer started last month and we took very careful precautions.
Like for example, we filled the fridge full with ice cold water, because the heat was bound to dry up all the water in our bodies.
And we made sure the doors and windows were all closed so that the coolness from last night could not escape from the confines of the house.
But alas, it's been about half a day and the heat is starting to seep in.
I think I'm starting to get a headache. D:
Sunday, January 11
Maybe it's because I'm sitting right beside the closed window, and it longs to go out.
But I opened the door just now for it to fly far far far far away from me but IT DIDN'T.
I feel like just squashing it to the wall and letting it meet its most horrible death but I figured it wouldn't be very nice to have blood splattered all over my sparkling clean white walls.
I would have to bear the guilt forever....
That's all I have to say today.
The buzz is interupting my flow of thought, so blame the fly.
Saturday, January 10
And many more
As always, there are 18 P's.
Cheryl dearie is the first person to be granted a birthday post in 2009 and it is major okay! I hate to say it, but your birthday card is going to be
I don't think I will go on about the joys of finally being of age to drink legally, walk into pubs without shifty eyes, hoping not to get caught by the bouncer (For the record, I know you're a good girl. You never sneaked into pubs riiiiiight? :D ), buying 4D whenever you dream of some random number which you are certain will win the 10 million jackpot, watching M18 movies, learning to drive, being old enough to be able to sign up for anything you want in the world without needing your parent's consent because... well everyone will be saying the same thing, and frankly, I think you'll get quite sick of being told not to get drunk.
It's really funny how time just flies by us without us noticing. To think when we were allocated to sit together in class by mrsC, we were small little 14 year olds. I think your birthday ended up being on Chinese New year or something that year? Because I recall distinctly that it was a holiday and we couldn't really pull a cracker in your face in celebration of turning 15. HAHAHA this reminds me of the first Lit lesson we had, when we were in a group discussion about Macbeth and you probably thought I was sort of crazy because I was happily arguing with Melissa about some random - and very unimportant - line about soldiers drowning in water.
ANYWAY. Here's to the girl sat with me all through sec3 and sec4, and being my accomplice in all crimes that could possibly be commited while sitting innocently in class. Thank you for introducing me to the whole world of blogging (I remember very clearly that yours was the first blog I ever visited before, and got me hooked onto the wonders of bloghopping.) Thank you for tagging really often and preventing my blog from dying away into nothingness, for introducing me to transparent msn windows, for teaching me how to take screenshots, for... playing neopets with me?
Ahahahahaha I'm really glad we kept in contact this whole time (Ahhhh the joys of msn :D ) andddddd... thank you for having been such a great friend all this while!
(I miss staring at those small little kids walking in and out of the hall all day long with you. Don't you?)
Happy Birthday Cheryl!
Ps. Don't get drunk. (:

Tuesday, January 6
It wasn't that great after all
And no, I don't mean the oh-my-god-I-have-to-study-this-for-English-THIS-BOOK-SUCKS kind of hate.
I just simply don't like it.
With everyone else gushing happily about how great/touching/impacting the book is, this sort of makes me sound like a total idiot.
I just find the book unnecessasrily depressing, draggy, and I'm not content with the ending.
(I read about a quarter of the book yesterday and it put me in a decidedly gloomy mood for the rest of the night)
I feel so cheated okay.
Having spent so much time reading it, I expected at least an ending with some closure.
I wasn't exactly looking for a happily-ever-after ending, but still!
I don't see Amir paying the price of his mistake.
I expected him to be plagued with the guilt or something.
Everyone dies in the end, and the conflict isn't even resolved.
IT WAS LEFT HANGING IN THE AIR.
It's probably supposed to be those artsy open endings where you are to glimpse at the light at the end of the tunnel but not reach the end of the tunnel (does that even make sense?), but that just doesn't work for me.
I don't like books where I have to guess and analyse alot of things by myself (NO it's not because I'm lazy) because in the end, people tend to over-analyse and come up with a stupid conclusion that the author had not even intended.
Much like Shakespere. (and poems too actually)
He probably did not mean for all those insignificant little plot points to be discussed as a 1000 word essay.
He was just writting a bloody play for enjoyment.
Sometimes, I wonder why I even took Lit when I'm so pessimistic about it.
On a lighter note, I went out on a romantic date with Irene today! :D
So we watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at Glen.
Initially, the beginning almost made me fall asleep, but after the introduction, it was good!
It turned out to be much longer than I thought, (abut 2.5hours) considering it's a movie made from a short story.
It's actually quite sad, that Brad Pitt became younger and younger, while Cate Blanchett aged year by year so much so that eventually, she became an old woman and he was a baby.
I'm very amused with the makeup they used though hahahahahaha they managed to make Cate old and Brad Pitt really young! (He looked nothing older than 16 years old in his last scene!)
Now I feel like watching more more more movies! :D

I'm sorry, but sometimes I feel like I'm a grain of sand in your eye. An irritant. Maybe I really am. But I can't... let go again. We've come so far from those times 3 years ago.

Turning points in life
I decided to start on my holiday homework!
Hey this is no mean feat okay, since you're talking about a person who is literally addicted to tarrying and doing homework at the last minute.
I guess I finally realise that now that we're already in January, there is actually only about 4 WEEKS left before school starts and there is a whole mountain of work left to do.
So yes, I started on Bio!
Admittedly, I just completed about 1/4 of the Chapter 1 Review questions, but I'm now a changed person and I SHALL CONTINUE WORKING HARD ON THEM TODAY! :D
Oh and I started reading Kite Runner too!
I'm still trying to find out what exactly is so nice about it that has everyone raving about it.
But the one thing I dread reading is Shark Net.
After hearing all sorts of negative feedback from everyone, I'm quite reluctant to spend all my time reading it.
If it were up to me, I would boycott English homework all together.
Speaking of English homework, does anyone realise that our first SAC of the year is ENGLISH ORAL and it is 7 WEEKS AWAY FROM THIS VERY MOMENT.
Seven weeks is very short okay. I think I'm starting to hyperventilate at the mere thought of it.
I don't know why, but it just dawned on me that I won't be taught by the same teachers anymore.
For some reason, the last lesson of last year didn't really feel like it.
It felt like we were still going to meet them after the exams and everything.
Now about 2 months after the exams, we're on our way to meeting all new (and frightening) Year 12 teachers, and... It's quite intimidating to say the least.
I guess with all this New Year stuff, it has finally sunk in that we're Year 12s now and it is VCE YEAR and we should be crying with pressure by now. D:
(Not a very nice thought to keep in your head by the way)
Anyway, I received the last of Christmas cards today and it was very exciting because the card had a Christmas tree in it!
It was so cool okay.

The very innocent looking exterior of the card.......

Then I realised there was a lot of folded things inside, contributing to the unnatural thickness of the card which I had earlier dismissed....
And look! A pop up Christmas tree! :D
Long time since I hadn't had pop-up cards!
Anyway, this card is from YiChien! (Thank you so much!)
And of course, also loads of thank yous to Bhavjeet, Sherrie, Eileen, Vanessa, Cheryl, Youngmin, JianYun, Zihui and Simin for their cards too! (:
Audrey promised to send me one too but she claimed that it shall arrive only during Chinese New Year.
After all, New Year, Chinese New Year same thing aren't they?
Always the Tarrier, Audrey, I'm proud of you m'dear. :D

(:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Damn cool okay, I think that can last me for the next few years or something. :D
I contemplated taking a picture of them all for everyone to gaze with wonderment and awe at my very impressive collection of 0.38 pens/refills but I worry that everyone will question my sanity.
I’m still not sure myself if I should laugh maniacally at them or despair over the fact that I’ve clearly lost my mind (who keeps TWENTY refills and at the same time have about another 10 pens of the exact same brand and type?)
I keep having stupid dreams again, and for some reason, they’re the type which I can recall with crystal clarity.
So last night, I was away at this camp thing (with some other random people) which lasted for three days.
I remember that the second night, we went canoeing in this lake, and they made us wade into the lake first before giving any instructions.
So I waded in.
Since it was night time, I couldn’t really see anything and the only thing I felt was the ultra muddy bottom of the lake underneath my feet.
And suddenly, I felt something piercing the bottom of my foot but I thought nothing of it.
In the end when I came out of the lake, I realized that there was this huge gaping wound on my sole and I went to tell the camp master although someone told me not to. (I don’t know why though. Why would anyone tell me not to seek medical attention for such an injury?)
The camp master then took me to the medical room thingy, and they examined my foot with very grave expressions and they told me that it was the worst wound I could ever have gotten and it had already been very horribly infected.
It was quite sad.
I can’t remember much about what happened after that, but I think the last day of the camp some sort of a ball (the dancing type) and I obviously couldn't dance due to previously injured foot.
This is the kind of situations which make me wish that Harry Potter were real.
I am seriously in need of a goblet of dreamless sleep potion. D:
I know!
Maybe staring at his face will let me sleep more peacefully!

Dreams vs reality?
So I was in school, in some sort of a class-like setting, and I was feeling guilty for some reason (maybe it's just my subconscious very subtlely telling me to START WORKING ON THE HOLIDAY HOMEWORK AND STOP SLACKING AROUND)
Anyway, about halfway through my guilt-ridden state, this whole group of polar bears (Yes, polar bears. I remember very distinctly) came storming past, and tried to enter the room through the window.
It was quite alarming, but the teacher reassured us that the glass was strong, and they could never break through the glass, so it was alright.
Of course, dreams never made much sense, so the polar bears started to crack the glass and such and all of us started getting quite very afraid and were running all over the room.
For some reason, I ended up hiding in this cold room with ____.
QUITE STUPID RIGHT, we're talking about polar bears here and I decided to hide in the very place at which they would feel right at home: A bloody cold environment.
I might as well have served myself on a great big platter to them while I was at it.
Like I said, dreams are dumb.
I can't remember how, but I think I somehow managed to escape together with ___, and we walked to the bus stop or something.
Um.. The End.
I really can't remember the rest of the dream.
It's sort of like a hazy blur except for the occasional colourful wisps which I can't seem to forget.
Maybe it's just this idealized notion in my head, but.. I don't know! It seemed so vivid! D:
Anyway, my mum came back from Singapore today after a whole week! :DDDDD
We turned up at the airport about an hour late due to unforseen circumstances hahahahahaha(no, seriously it was beyond our control okay! We were at someone's house and the person talked and talked and talked) but other than that, it was alright.
The ride back home took about a century due to all the traffic jams in the city area. D:
Most of my goodies (presents from relatives! I love them la <3) are still making their way slowly across the ocean. (my mum sent them by sea from Singapore and it would take 1.5 MONTHS to reach here)
But for whatever gifts my mum managed to bring along with her, thank yooooooooou!
(The video was priceless. It was great!)
Got to watch all the videos/photos of the big night (my uncle's wedding!) too but of course, it's never the same as being there.
Believe it or not, I've never been to a relative wedding before! ):
On a side (and somewhat unrelated) note, I have decided that Carlisle is so much hotter than Edward.
So there.
Everyone is free to take Edward.
Carlisle is now mine! Wahahahahahahaha. :D

Celebrations

Picture from http://www.theage.com.au/
I'm actually getting quite tired of those words now. (Although I don't mind another 100 more people wishing me happy new year. :D )
Maybe they should invent a different way of expressing this sentiment.
According to the thesaurus, twelvemonth is an alternative word for year. So I shall say...
Happy Twelvemonth everyone!
(How refreshing.)
I am very very sad to announce that I forgot to feeeeeeeeeeel that extra leap second of the year 2008.
Whatever. It wasn't that special anyway.
Okay, to tell the truth. I didn't even turn on the tv to laugh at the telecast of the countdown in town.
In fact, I even felt like sleeping by about 11+, but since Irene laughed at me for even thinking about sleeping early, I decided I shall perservere.
I ended up stayed up until 12.30, but it doesn't really feel that exciting anymore.
Like how when we were small little kids, staying up till 12am was a pretty big thing.
Now, you're obviously considered weird if you sleep at 9am.
Anyway, I have something to share today.
To refer to my previous post (from last year :D) about new year resolutions, HA there is an article on Yahoo saying that New Year resolutions ARE BAD FOR YOU.
LONDON (AFP) - - Making self-improvement New Year's resolutions often leaves people feeling worse, the British mental health charity Mind has warned.
Mind urged people not to make resolutions focusing on physical imperfections -- such as attempting to lose weight -- because they create a negative self image and lead to feelings of low self-esteem, hopelessness and even mild depression.
And when such optimistic resolutions fail, that could spark feelings of inadequacy and failure, the charity warned.
"New Year's resolutions can sometimes focus on our problems or insecurities such as being overweight, feeling unhappy in our jobs or feeling guilty about not devoting enough time to friends and family throughout the year," said Mind chief executive Paul Farmer.
"We chastise ourselves for our perceived shortcomings and set unrealistic goals to change our behaviour, so it's not surprising that when we fail to keep resolutions, we end up feeling worse than when we started.
"In 2009, instead of making a New Year's resolution, think positively about the year to come and what you can achieve."
Mind suggested resolution-makers focus instead on being active, connecting with nature, learning something new and working for one's community.
So there. No more new year resolutions from now on!
They make you sad. D:
